March 6th Emergency Management Update:
* State of Emergency still exists in Delaware Township.
*The township building remains open as a reception center and distribution center for limited supplies at this time. Delaware Township municipal building IS NOT operating as a shelter and is not anticipated to.
*Township road conditons remain marginal and flexible with ongoing intermitent road closures for utility restoration.
*Please DO NOT call the township office for accurate information on road closures, since all intermitent closures are ongoing and change hourly. If you must travel plan additional time for delays to be encountered.
*When traveling reduce speed, use caution, when possible yield to oncoming traffic, specifically emergency and untility vehicles.
*Please make every attempt to make your travel away from your home to those trips that are necessary to acquire supplies and resources to prepare for the next strom.
*To correct a misconception and rumor that arose yesterday "THERE IS NO MANDATORY EVACUATION AT THIS TIME FOR DELAWARE TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS", however, this is a long duration event and if you are unable to maintain your resources or the abililty to remain in your home you should consider relocating well inadvance of the next storm.
*During the next event keep in mind that the existing condition and new snow will severely impact emergency responders and township services as well as state services.
*Anticipate that it maybe several hours after the storm before travel is safe and practical again. We urge all residents to use the time available to re-supply and prepare for the next event.
